OVERVIEW

Steve Inslee is the General Manager for Farmers Co-op located in Abbyville, Kansas. As the manager for a single location co-op, he’s always looking for technology solutions to help his business stay competitive. Steve understands the importance of monitoring stored grain to preserve the highest possible quality. So, he regularly checked the temperature cable reports from all their concrete bins.

In recent years, however, Steve began to recognize the limitations of temperature cables:

TeleSense

SMS and in-app alerts for easier grain quality management. For example, if temperature exceeds a user-defined threshold, an alert will be sent to you.

Since the checks were irregular, it was difficult to get a real-time view of what was happening in the grain. This directly impacted Steve's bottom line.

When Steve first heard about the TeleSense Wireless Junction Box (WJB), it seemed like a great way to improve his existing cable systems. For Steve, the decision to add the TeleSense WJB to all the storage bins at Farmers Co-op Abbyville came down to two factors – expected increase in efficiency and ease of use.  After several months of usage, here are some benefits he talks about:

EFFORTLESS MONITORING

TeleSense

With the TeleSense WJB in place, it's possible to check on stored grain from anywhere. Steve explains, “The WJB has saved us a lot of time in not having to send someone out to check the sensors. Instead, I can go to the TeleSense app and see what’s going on. Even when I am out of the office, I keep an eye on the grain using the mobile app and coordinate with my on-site staff, if I see any issues.”  Steve also appreciates, how easy it is to use the TeleSense App -  “Simplicity of the system is really nice. I can easily check the temperatures every day and the color-coding is really helpful.”

IMPROVED GRAIN QUALITY

TeleSense

For Steve and his team, continuous monitoring is a major advantage. It enables them to spot problems quicker so they can proactively manage grain quality. As Steve says, “I rely on the TeleSense system to identify issues before they become a real problem. By looking at the app alerts, I can quickly identify hot spots, so we can turn the grain before the situation worsens.”

QUICK RETURN ON INVESTMENT

TeleSense

For Farmers Co-op Abbyville, the WJB system is proving to be a worthy investment after 6 months of use. As per Steve, “The TeleSense WJB is a lot less expensive over time and more reliable than equivalent manpower to do the same things. The manpower savings and easy detection of spoilage help pay for the system”
